The Importance of Brain Activities

With residents that are a part of Bluegrass' memory care programs, it is important that they participate in daily activities that exercise their brains. We implement brain-driven exercises and activities in our day-to-day schedules for our residents. These activities and exercises can include physical exercises such as going on a walk, listening to and making music, and different types of puzzles. Cognitive tasks such as these have been proven to help with the quality of life in those who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Here are a few beneficial reasons for brain health activities:

  • Can help slow down the progression of a memory loss disease.

  • Helps residents stay engaged and active within the community.

  • Reduces sleeping problems.

  • Reduces common behavioral problems in individuals with memory loss.

  • Improves communication skills and attitude

  • Helps individuals stay involved and engaged with others.

At Bluegrass Assisted Living, we believe in high quality of life for seniors, encouraging them to be as active as they can be, especially in our memory care community. Brain activities for the residents’ health are essential and that is why we strive to provide as many as possible.
